HONK! Band Participant Guidelines

This Is a guide for all participants taking part in HONK! Bradford.

HONK! Bradford is being organised by the Peace Artistes, a streetband based in Bradford. We have received some funding from Bradford 2025 and the Arts Council but most of us doing the organising are band members and are not getting paid.

Everyone who takes part in HONK! Bradford has the right to:

  • Feel safe, happy and secure.
  • Play, create and take part fully in all activities without the threat of disruption, or negative comments/feedback.
  • Be respected, valued and listened to.
  • Feel that everyone will be treated fairly and with sensitivity

Everyone who takes part in HONK! Bradford is expected to:

  • Treat fellow participants, volunteers, artists and audiences with kindness and respect.
  • Communicate in a polite and respectful manner with other participants, staff, audience and volunteers.
  • Be respectful in the rehearsal or workshop space.
  • Give your full attention when in rehearsals or workshops.
  • Treat others with respect and dignity and behave in a professional, compassionate and collaborative manner.
  • Respect property and space. This includes tidying up after yourself, following health and safety guidelines, and not causing any damage to any property.

The organisers of HONK! Bradford will:

  • Communicate clearly throughout the project.
  • Help with the access needs of all participants as part of our commitment to diversity, access and inclusion.
  • Keep you safe whilst you participate with us by putting proper measures in place, including risk assessments.
  • Provide food during longer sessions.
  • Promptly and fairly seek to resolve any problems, concerns or difficulties you may experience whilst participating.

Diversity, Inclusion and Access

We believe that by creating a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible programme, we will improve the participation experience for everyone.

We hope you will share any reasonable adjustments or access requirements you might have. This will help us remove any barriers and restrictions so you can take part. If we can’t remove these barriers, we will talk to you and aim to find a solution.

If you have any questions, or you want to bring a support worker, carer or family member to help you in your role, email honkbradford@gmail.com

We ask you to follow our principles of equality, diversity and inclusion, creating a welcoming and safe environment for everyone.
